School For Kids…

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

We have been trying to figure out what to do with the kids for school this year. Ideally we wanted them in Lutheran school here, because it has a special emphasis on the arts, which they are all very interested in. But it will cost us around $6000 a year to put the kids in there (that’s for the whole family so that isn’t a bad price, but, it’s still $6000 that we don’t really have “laying around”). So we *thought* that Bismarck had to let us into one of the public schools. I called to find out which school we could put them in and was told that they DO NOT accept anyone from out of the district, under any circumstances, unless they pay tuition. Tuition is $5000 PER CHILD to go in to a Bismarck public school. That is A LOT more than the private Lutheran school.

Other options: Apple Creek, overcrowded, no music or arts programs, no extra curricular programs. Naughton, where they went last year, 17 mile drive (mostly gravel) one way, also no music or extra curricular programs. Honestly, I think I am going to have to go to work and put the kids into Lutheran school. It will cost less than public school and they will get the programs we want them to have. We could go back to homeschooling but, we really don’t want to do that either.

Anyone know where a displaced housewife can get a job that works only while the kids are in school AND pays really well???????

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

Stressed out…

when I grow up I wanna…

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

You know I have all these dreams for when I grow up. I want to be financially secure and comfortable and have college funds for all my kids who will then make me rich. You know, your average typical dreams. I would like to own my own cloud, if possible close to the big dipper (that is some PRIME real estate though so my kids better make me rich). I want health and prosperity. I want to be a famous singer, well, maybe.

So I am thinking a lot about all of my dreams for the future and getting myself all pumped up and psyched about it, when this show comes on TV. Not sure what it was, some 20/20 or something like that. But it was about Zappos. The shoe sales place on the internet. So I watched this show about Zappos and found that my dreams began to change by the second. By the end of the segment I had decided that all I want in life is to move where I can work for Zappos, and have a career there. I want to be in the contests and the soapbox derbies. I want to sell shoes, put them in boxes, and ship them to people BOTH WAYS for free. I want to answer the phone and say, “It’s a great day here at Zappos!” I want to run around the office in my Odie slippers and Eeyore pajama pants with my nurfball gun and shoot people. In between selling shoes and shipping shoes and telling everyone who calls what a great day it is here at Zappos.

Well for a North Dakota girl this is going to be a real feat because, there is no Zappos here. I am going to have to move to like Vegas or something. But in the meantime I am planning to buy a pair of shoes from Zappos. Maybe two pairs. I love those people!!

So, what are your dreams for when you grow up?
