Quick Update

OK so I have not blogged in a long long long time and I need to get cracking. Here is a quick update…. Matt was unemployed for 7 mos and all the jobs in his field were far far away so we moved “home” where he went back to work for the company he worked for before Bobcat. Honestly things are going really well for him and he is pretty happy there. He works 4 days a week with a 5th day every 2 or 3 weeks so that is AWESOME. He makes half what he made at Bobcat, the benefits are more expensive, and we are 7 mos behind on all of our bills, so the financial part is tough going for a while…. Ugh.
Thanks to some help financially we are out of my mom’s basement and into our own home - a 4 bedroom mobile/modular/whatever you want to call it, in a mobile home park. HUGE change for us, moving off of 80 acres of total privacy where kids and animals were FREE… HUGE HUGE change. But it’s okay. Horses are at a friend’s, not sure if we will keep them or sell them (or give them away to a good home??) yet. Zeus is actually adjusting to in town life much better than we expected.

Kids are okay - been VERY sick for the last month. Between the 6 kids one or more have had the following illnesses: H1N1, Strep throat, sinus infection, bronchitis, fifth disease (aka Parvo B19)… Tristan broke/dislocated his pinky, popped out the nail, dislocated the growth plate… NASTY & painful! I think getting out of the mold infested old farm house was good for us but as someone mentioned our immune systems are probably recovering from that and catching everything going around.

Madison (12) is in junior high now! The same one I went to! She is so different than me. I was shy & and pretty poor student. Not just shy but HORRIBLY shy. Tough tough years for me! Madison is a straight A student, in advance math class, in band, choir, & honor choir, was voted onto student council, played volleyball and now plays hockey. Oh yeah, and she is in confirmation & chuch youth group. She is a perfectionist overachiever!! Needless to say she is doing really really great.

Tristan (11) is in 6th grade which is sort of like pre-middle school here where all the town’s 6th graders go to the same school. He is really doing great!! He is sooo funny & witty, popular, but very sweet & kind. He just has so much charm and personality. We enjoy the heck out of him. He is not the best student, doesn’t like studies terribly much, but does well getting so far 1 A, 1 B, & the rest C’s. He is in band (drummer), was also voted onto student council, played football (loved it and did great), and is not playing hockey too. Even with a broken finger and all the illness, he has been a real trooper. His team had two games yesterday and they tied one and won one.

MacKenzie is in 3rd grade and WOW is she ever a studious little girl. She has OVER 100% in all of her classes - up to 140% in one - because she does perfect and then extra credit and tutors other kids. She is going into the gifted talented program next semester. Our little preemie has turned into such a smart little lady! She also plays hockey & she is a darned good hockey player.

Matthew (almost 8) does not like school much but does enjoy having friends there. He is still quiet, reserved, and would rather draw elaborate pictures full of tiny details or play with legos than pay attention to school work. He is pretty amazing, with his imagination, creative side, drawing, inventing, building… Not sure where it will go but I positive it’s going to somewhere big.

Treytan has really come out of his shell. He started kindergarten this year. He was shy & blushed when people even looked at him and now he is VERY outgoing and loves all of his buddies at school. He has a couple that are neighbors now too and he thinks he has to be out with friends ALL the time. He does really well in school.

Charleigh is ready to go to school! Only 3, she can’t hardly stand being stuck at home with me all day. She is so busy and so intelligent. I honestly think she could do kindergarten work. Once we get more settled into our house here I think I will homeschool her.

We live a couple blocks from my mom so that’s nice. About the time we moved back so did my brother who was 300 miles away. So mom has almost her whole family back in our home town again.

Well so much more to write about, especially regarding my own medical/PCOS stuff, but I guess I will do that later because I have run out of time. God bless you all!!
