WONDERFUL NEWS!!! Pathology report…

Dr. Krajlic called & said the pathology is back confirming that the tissue analyzed is BENIGN! Yaaaaaaaay!! One more burden lifted! Praise God!

Treytan is hanging in there. Sunday was a tough day for all of us for some reason. Matt woke up not feeling well, I didn’t feel well, and Treytan complained of headache and tummy pain all day long. I still have a headache today… really hoping it’s not a multi-day headache. I hate those! I think we just have been going going goin and finally hit the wall. Not sleeping well at night between the worrying and TWO kids in our bed is surely not helping.

Today he has been complaining of his tummy/side hurting. Pretty sure that’s just par for the course. We go see Dr. Peterson today and hopefully get the staples out! They are really starting to irritate his stomach.

The weather is so nice out. Treytan has wanted to be outside and we have let him some but already a couple neighbor kids were playing swords with sticks and chasing him around. Not good if he got poked or hit! Can’t wait to have our yard fenced so we have a little more control of what goes on out there.

Matt has the entire skeleton built for the room on the back deck. He got that done really fast!! So now we need to make another trip for some lumber to finish the roof and the walls and then we can start to use it while still finishing it. Getting some of the “stuff’ out of Treytan’s room so we can use it for an actual bedroom will be really great! Everyday he asks when he gets to use HIS room. The process is much too slow for him.

Since we were not feeling well yesterday we did not take in the circus but plan to this evening. It’s really nice in Dickinson because the schools give out tickets for the kids. We got 4 tickets for the kids so we will only have to buy 4 (2 kids and then mom and dad tickets). When we lived in Bismarck there were NO free tickets and the “cheap seats” were $10, way up high in the civic center. The last time we went I think Treytan was maybe 1? And a little 1 yr old up in the nosebleed section wasn’t the most fun thing for him. “Look - waaaaaaaaay over there! See - it’s a lion! From here it looks the size of a housecat but really it is a lion! WOW!” ha ha….. ANYWAY, one of the nice things about being in Dickinson now….. the circus is much more affordable!

I know that some pain and irritating problems are going to be part of Treytan’s life probably forever…. but it’s better than cancer!! Thank God it’s benign. He is complaining of feeling the tube in his neck. I suppose it will take a while for his body to get used to all the changes. He does not seem to be able to see out of his “blind” eye yet. I am noticing more and more how blind he really is on that side. But, the doctor said like a spinal chord injury and improvement will be very slow. Weeks and months, not days he said. So we are hoping! He has back and leg pain that is just going to be part of his life now too because of the syringomyelia (the location of the cyst causes some build up of CSF in the spinal cord area, causing some pressure and problems from that). We just have to keep praying that his complications are minimal and his life dealing with this is as smooth as possible. We will find out how well the shunt system is working when we return for a CT Scan and checkup on May 6th.

In the meantime……. we are easing into life as usual - or as it will be usual for us from now on. Just taking things one day at a time, hoping for improvement in the pain and eyesight, hoping for no accidents, and hoping for no complications from the shunt system.

Treytan is really loving his puppy, who we have named TIZZY. She is soooo fun and so playful Tizzy just seemed to fit. She really helped him to feel better yesterday when the kids got to go swimming but he didn’t (staples and incisions not healed enough yet). Tizzy didn’t get to go swimming either so he and Tizzy hung out and played. She is an awfully special friend to him right now.

Enjoy this nice weather & WELCOME SPRING!!!!!

Blessings,
Matt, Tarra, Treytan, & Family
